Try cutting it in half for a while and then skip.....maybe you became slightly addicted, cut down slowly until you are back to a normal routine.

Hollie,

First of all, Klonopin is not a PRN (as needed) drug. Any physician who prescribes Klonopin in this manner does not understand the drugs pharmacology. If that is the case with your physican, I'd find another one, preferably a Psychiatrist who understands this drug and similar pyschotropic drugs.

Klonopin's main metabolite has a long half-life. Klonopin is best suited for the maintanence of panic disorder. As with any other maintanence drug, a steady-state blood level is generally a requirement for optimal efficacy. Peaks and troughs in this level lead to sub-optimal results, and perhaps, a clinical worsening of the illness being treated.

Furthermore, I would discuss all of your somatic complaints, thoughts, and concerns with the Psychiatrist. An honest representation would be to print out your posting(s) on this forum, and show them to the doctor. Many (most) of them are disorganized, poorly written, lack reasoning, etc (no offense, just offering to you my point of view), and point to some underlying behavioral disorder.

Based on your writing alone (and solely on your writing), my apprasial of you is that you suffer from either bipolar disorder with mania, a mixed depressive state, or a combination of both. Unfortunately, this forum is not going to get you the help you need. If you don't seek help for your problem(s), they will grow worse with time. You should act on them while they are still managable. It is quite apparent (again, based on your writing), that you are having a difficult time.

In my opinion, Klonopin alone (PRN or daily), will not help you resolve your issues. Pyschiatric help implemented properly, can.

Respectfully,

Ryan
