Twitching all over and never stops

by twitchella, May 26, 2007 12:00AM
I twitch all over, all the time.  They are like strings of a guitar being plucked, bigger muscle groups are bigger twitches, smaller muscle, smaller twitch.  They never stop.  Of course I notice them most when I'm resting.  The twitches move all over my body, surface and deep.  At the most I can count 10-15 seconds between twitches.  If my body were an instrument, I wonder what the melody would be.

Doc wants to medicate, I don't.  I want to know WHY!
MRI -unremarkable, all bloodwork normal. They started 2yrs ago, and stress has gotten worse and then better with NO change in twitching.

I've made diet changes, like dropping caffeine, or splenda, no fast food for 3-6 months at a time, lost 32lbs, now exercise 5x a week for 60 minutes.  I'm very healthy except for the extra 40lbs still to lose.

I see no reason to medicate, the twitches don't keep me from living life or affect my sleep. They just make me wonder WHY I'm twitching and is there something I need to do?

Anyone relate?  Anyone find out why?  Any solutions?

TIA,

Twitchela

I've been beset with some of the same symptoms for the past month.  The twitches/vibration/spasms started during a time of high stress for me.  I've had some other weird symptoms like not being able to open my eyes in the morning for about five seconds.  The twitches along with the eye problem got me really scared.  So had an MRI this past week and am awaiting the results.  But lately my twitches have diminished after I started taking Motrin.  I read somewhere that a pinched nerve might cause the twitches and that anti-inflamatory medication would release the pressure on the nerve.  It seems to have helped me a bit.  But I also read that twitching is definitely a sign of anxiety. So do all that you can to de-stress your life, get more sleep, use relaxation tapes, etc.  That's my best advice.  Hope you find an answer.  Good luck to you!
