by davefpd, May 27, 2007 12:00AM
i'm 33 and have been feeling bad since jan. i feel queezy all of the time my stomach is wrecked and all the doctors say  it is anxiety . i'm scared of everthing especialy taking the aniety meds . i feel like i need to know what is making my stomach hurt and what is causing me to be dizzy everyday . the dizziness comes on everyday at about 9am and subsides by 6pm my blood pressure is fine my sugar is good . i also have had yellow stool for 4 months ,my stomach burns all of the time all the way up to my throat. i have also started getting headaches quite often. i have been to the doctors they have done a head ct , basic blood work, an ekg they say it all looks good . what do i do now ? i can't do anything anymore i just want to sleep . i am paranoid about having an upper gi scope done because i'm completly terrified of being knocked out . i'm loosing my mind surely this can't be anxiety causing all of this.

Hi Dave,

I'm not sure, but has your doctor looked for an ear infection in regards to your dizziness? I understand your anxiety in not knowing why you're feeling this way, and although it might not be the source of all of your physical symptoms, it might contribute to them. As for your other symptoms, I'm sorry that I can give you any insight into their causes.

I apologize if this wasn't really helpful to you. :(

Take care!

i'm going to have more tests run this week i hope it's not stomach cancer or something . i'm in great shape 5'8" 155lbs very active i do smoke but i do not drink i have just been battling this for 3-4 months and i'm getting worn down . doctor put me on nexium but it did not work i still have the stomach problems i'm going to loose my mind if i don't get this figured out.the anxiety is getting worse i am terrified just to let them take my blood it is a big ordeal every time .i know that eventualy they will have to run that camera down my throat and that is even more scary because they knock you out. theey have prescribed me clonazepan and sertraline but reading  the side effects makes me hesitant to take the drugs .

hi dave,

I done the upper endoscopy as well, don't worry, you won't feel a thing & you'll be fine after 20 minutes after you wake up.

If doctors insist that you don't have any physical problem then this is the explanation for your symptoms:

Anxiety/too much stress plays with a nerve on the top of your stomach & it affects your stomach muscles ability to digest food properly, which makes your body gives more acid to digest the food in your stomach & that what gives you all the stomach aches & so on, which by turn plays around with your gastro system.

if your stomach is upset & you feel nausea or burning all the time & if you have "indigestion" then most likely your body won't digest all the vitamins, sugars & proteins from the food that you eat properly, which may result to you feeling weak or dozed.

As for dizziness, this is a strange thing & I think you may need to explain it clearly to your doctors if dizziness means that you're seeing things MOVE around you or is that you feel dozed or high "same as having a hang over after a night of alcohol" or being tipsy or slightly drunk.....if its being tipsy or slightly drunk feeling & if there's no ear problems then most likely its because of weakness from not eating well or digesting the food properly.

I'm not a doctor, I felt the same exact symptoms & in my case, all were related to anxiety, you need to try to relax & divert your attention to something else other than yourself & your symptoms otherwise they won't go. I know how hard it is to do but you have to keep trying until you can switch off for some time, then you'll be able to eat properly & your digestive system will work properly again.

You just have to make sure first before resulting to anxiety that you don't have any physical problems but if it was proven by your drs that you don't have any clinical issues then you need to have some light exercise daily & you need to eat healthy food & more or less do what they've been screaming about on TV for ages for a healthy lifestyle which we all ignore!

Stress/anxiety adds pressure on our nervous system & unless we have a way to release that stress/anxiety (thru exercise & relaxation) then you'll have to face the same symptoms all over again. We all need a healthy lifestyle to keep going SPECIALLY those with higher stress & anxiety.

Don't worry about endoscopy, I was scared too but you won't feel anything & after they do it you'll feel much better when they come back with a normal results or nothing.

cheers & let us know how you went.

After all medical tests are done, it comes down to anxiety...I am nauseous every single morning when I get up and it subsides within the first hour or two.  When I first was diagnosed with anxiety/depression my stomach was a total mess!!!  The nausea was almost constant...and I was CONSTANTLY dizzy/lightheaded...Like as if I were in a fog all the time.  It would be worse in the morning and subside dramatically at night...I think it subsided because I was almost done with the day and I could go and sleep.  I also had very loose stool constantly because of my nerves...hope this info. helps and that you feel better soon...and like the other post said...don't worry about the endoscopy!

I suffered with depression and anxiety for years.  Tried several different meds before I finally decided to take St. John's Wort and omega 3.  It worked beautifully and I wouldn't change a thing.  I know that isn't the only solution, as there is a lot of research on natural remedies.  This is a tough thing to go through and I wish you the best.
