Anxiety and Itching??

by lukesmyboy, May 30, 2007 12:00AM
HI, I'm desperatly looking for some answers this morning.. (we have doctors who know very little about these disorders and are making me resort to the internet) I have a 7 year old son who has Anxiety, OCD, BP, as well as a small list of others. Today though (and the past few weeks) itching has overcome him. pretty much anytime he has a request put on him, or its time to do something he doesnt want to he has frantic itching attacks from head to toe. they last up to several minutes. at first i though maybe they were allergy related or bath related but have ruled that out since it only happens when he is asked to do something.

anyone here have any advise that will help us over come this? as of right now were doing breathing exersices.. but that is a process all in its own that seems to stress him out more causing him to itch more... :)

much thanks (in advance)
christina

It seems to me that Luke may need some professional help from a child psychiatrist...not a pediatrician.  It seems to me his itching can be related to an anxiety disorder...for example, I get nauseous when I have to do somehting that I don't want to do...I am not a doctor, and definitely am not giving a diagnosis...you need to follow through to get to the root of the problem so it doesn't ballloon into more serious symptoms....best to you.
