klonopin and valium safe to take together?

I current take .05 mg of klonopin a day. Is it safe for me to take 10 mg of valium when I need it..for example before I fly?

Ideally, you should be taking 1/2 mg (0.5 mg) of Klonopin per day. A single 1/2 mg dose is not sufficient to reach "steady-state". In other words, the full benefit of Klonopin cannot be obtained with a single daily dose, as the effects begin to trough after 12 hours. When dosed BID (twice daily), a steady-state plasma level is established, which acts as maintanence against panic disorder.

10 mg of Valium = 0.5 mg of Klonopin. Rather than taking Valium as needed, I'd take 0.5 mg of Klonopin instead. It is unusual to need a PRN dose if the Klonopin is dosed BID.

Ideally, you should not combine two separate Benzodiazepines, unless the PRN one has a short half-life (such as Xanax).

Speak with your doctor about adjusting your Klonopin dose to 1/2 mg BID. This will supress most of your symptoms, and prevent "interdose anxiety"

i take .5 klonopin twice a day and i was on just once a day and i have to say it makes a world of diffrence i take one in the morning and one at night i think it will work for you to and if not they have higher mg of klonopin that are safe i would go that route to many meds scare me but thats just me

I take 10 mg of Klonopin and 10 mg of Valium a day and my anxiety is still not under control. I have noticed no side effects from either except that it takes me an hour to fully wake up.
