Got results...not sure it is just anxiety!!!

by NeMH, Jun 12, 2007 12:00AM
I had some panic attacks a few weeks back...ever since ive been getting hot flushes...really only occuring at night...accompanied by dizzyness and headaches like pressure. Im usually not thinking bout symptoms so I dont know why they come on? Ive had blood test...which tested blood count, liver and kidney test and glucose test.....all came back ok.....she said it was just stress?

Could it be that my body is still stressed out? and why do I feel fine during the day but only at night? Any other tests I should get done?

Please help!

yes my body only feels good at night , every morning for 3 weeks when i get up i have the tingling/ears/face i have a sick stomck to.feel weak and tired but by 1 afternoon it startes to go away. so yes your stress can do that . today much better not as much stress but still sick stomack which i have lost 14 pds in 3 weeks not a way i wanted to lose it . if dr said it was than you need to belive him/her and go on with life. my dr says same thing and its been hard on me but i trust her and if not why go ask them.

have you been through some stress latley? i went through 3 months of stress but was not stressed untill it was all over ,now my body telling me about it, so am letting it take its course but not to much where it gets out of control.

did your dr give you anything to help with the night stress, i take a ativan if needed , i try to do with out the pill thats why my stomack in bad shape , buit i rather do with out oill than take one ever day and have to wean off of it .

now that your dr has told you your ok, try and relax belive what he/she said and be thankfull your healthy and not dying . God Bless you

You may not think you are stressed but your mind may be constantly wandering back to the problem.."why am I stressed or why am I feeling this way?" During the day you might be bust but at night maybe you have too much time to think about it. I know right before bed I start thinking way too much.

thanks for your posts

In response to the first....mine is worse in the evening and straight through to the night....its just a constant tension headache and bad hot flush...its horrible...and no im not on any medication as apparently they all interfere with my asthma

To the second response.....The thing that I dont get is that during the day im worrying bout it but yet in the evening when I am not thinking bout it, it all comes on?

:(

Prehaps it is related to lifesyle or it could be environmental - your tests results prove you dont have any underlying medical reason for your symptoms (diabetes, thyroid etc, etc. etc.)

Is there anything you do in the evening that you dont do during the day?  Working out, going for a walk, drinking alcohol etc.  Are you getting enough water to drink?  Dehydration can cause headaches and can be a real problem during the summer months.

It is also possible you could be eating something that you are reacting too - can you think of anything you have been consuming over the past few weeks that you werent eating before then?

Are you spending more time in front of a computer screen or TV in the evening than during the day?  This may also be contributing to your symptoms.

".....The thing that I dont get is that during the day im worrying bout it but yet in the evening when I am not thinking bout it, it all comes on?"

If you are worrying about something during the day you may be involuntarily clenching your teeth and tensing up - hours of doing this could result in some of the physical effects you have been experiencing.

Incidently, I just read the MSG causes facial flushing in addition to headaches.  Is it possible you have been exposed to this over the last few weeks?

It is great your blood results are all normal.  That is your first step.  Did your doctor also check your heart and your pressure?  Just to rule out everything, I would suggest running some cardiac tests (EKG, etc) to make sure it isn't related.  I am just one of those people who has to check all avenues...so this way you can relax your mind a little more.

Another question:  You said you get these attacks only at night...is it because you are in a reclining position?  Must you be laying down for these attacks to happen?  If so, discuss this with your doctor also.

One more thing...don't forget "the self-fulfilling prophecy"...our minds tend to do exactly what we think is going to happen...stressing over it during the day definitely puts it in your mind at night...even if it is subliminal.

Hope you feel better soon!

PS:  SPADE...WHAT IS MSG???(besides the Madison Square Garden channel?)

by spade22, Jun 12, 2007 12:00AM
MSG = monosodium glutamate.  Its a food additive and is VERY common, and found in large quantities, in Asian food.  A lot of people are allergic to it and the most common "reaction" to it is headache however, according to Wiki it also can also cause: facial flushing, head pressure, and dizziness (amongst other things).  MSG is also found in many other food items besides Asian cusian and I have provided a link below for those that are interested:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monosodium_glutamate

One can check food labels to see if the items contain MSG and, of course, if the orignal poster has been eating out a lot recently they could very well have been exposed to a lot of MSG.
