shortness of breath and fast heartrate

by bluestar79, Jun 13, 2007 12:00AM
I am a 27 year old female - 5'8" and 130 pounds. I am healthy according to every doctor I've seen, but I've been having some issues for the past three years or so. I get episodes that last for several months where I feel like I can't get a deep breath. It feels like I have to yawn a lot. My heart also seems to always beat fast. It's always in the upper 90s when at rest. Every once in a while I will get pain in my upper left chest - sometimes feels like pressure and sometimes a more sharp pain. I am worried that it could be a problem with my heart, but because of my age no doctor will get me tested for anything. I have had a normal chest xray and PFTs which suggested a mild restrictive ventilatory defect - I have no idea what that means and the Dr didn't seem to either. I am beginning to think this is all in my head and will be discussing the possibility with my Dr that this could be caused by stress and anxiety. I do get anxious very easily and am a very emotional person. Could all this be caused by anxiety?

it does sound like some anxiety issues i used to always yawn, have shortness of breath and your heart rate will go up when you are having anxiety mine got up to 140 before. But it will go back down. Why wont your doctor get you tested? I would find another doctor if i where you. It does just sound like anxiety but to mnake you feel better find another doc. and get some tests done
