Anxiety and Vision

by Topher7, Jun 14, 2007 12:00AM
I read this was a topic on another page but wanted to address it here again. I'll start by saying that I am supposed to wear glasses anyway...nearsighted and astigmatism. But I usually only wear them when driving at night. I also work on my computer probably 99% of the day.

But does anxiety mess with your vision? I'm not getting blind spots or halos or bluriness but there is a certain sensitivity when I'm in an anxiety attack moment. Yesterday when I left work my eyes felt horrible and started watering the minute I got into my car. This went on for about 5 minutes and then stopped. I also noticed that some days when stressed my eyes wouldn't go blurry but they seemed "tired" or "not as focused". Anyone?

When I am very stressed i get a little blurry...like very tired eyes and I sometimes get a pulling on my left eye...it seems like a little trouble trying to focus...

That is what mine has been like. Very tired, almost lazy and not really sensitive to light but aware of it, if that makes sense. A little bit of watering too.

Yep!  it all stems from my head and body...if that makes sense.

I went to my eye doctor today. He said the tension headaches or whatever are most likely coming from what I'm doing right now..the computer. I spend 8-9 hours a day working on these reading and writing documents and studying them. He said my eyes were drying out and they lock on to the screen so it wear the tendons and all out. Once you leave it behind your eyes have a hard time adjusting and all. The stress just added to it. He also found no tumors or pressure abnormalities or anything so that was great.
