Lumbar Epidural Causative Factor to onset of Arachnoiditis Neurogenic?

by RZEE50, Jun 11, 2007 12:00AM
The title says it all? Has anyone had or knows someone who recieved an Lumbar Epidural/Pain Block Injection that left him/her with either Arachnoiditis and or Neurogenic Bladder? Following the procedure I lost all feeling in my groin, buttocks and legs for about 4 weeks.  Subsequent tests have shown that I have both Arachnoiditis & a Neurogenic Bladder (both of which were not pre-existing. I am 50 yrs old and live in the Chicago Area. I have less than a month remaining to file suit against the Anesthesiologist, but although the result is not in question...no one can seem to figure out exactly how this could have been caused.  Making it just another unfortunate complication. Please let me know if you, someone you know or a specific Doctor might have a handle on this.

Thanks,

similar situation with me. I had open heart surgery and had an epidural. the epidural was pulled out and i had spinal cord leakage. A blood patch was performed and blood got into the spinal cord area leading to arachnoiditis. that is the best explanation I could get out of the doctors.

I AM 68 AND HAVE HAD ARACHNOIDITIS SINCE I WAS 60 IT WAS CAUSED IN MY CASE BY A MYLIOGRAM I WAS GIVEN IN THE MID 1950s. AT THAT TIME IT WAS THRU AN "ILLEGAL"SUBSTANCE (MYODIL).IT APPEARS THAT IT WAS NOT COMPLETELY AFTER MY XRAY.THERE IS NO CURE AND IN MY CASE VERY LITTLE TREATMENT.IF YOU PUNCH IN ADHESIVE ARACHNOIDITIS INTO YOUR PC THERE ARE MANY SITES WITH ALL YOU COULD EVER NEED ONE IN THE U.K.IS MYODIL ACTION GROUPBUT THERE ARE SO MANY SITES YOU WILL NEED A MONTH TO GET THRU THEM ALL. GOOD LUCK    BOYCEE UK.
