black ring

In January 2002 I had a follow -up mamogram  and ultra sound for cysts and calsifacations which came back ok the cysts have been resolved. A few days ago I had routine 6 month Mamogram and ultra sound, the  and it was noted I had 2 areas of concern, I was brought in to see the radiologist, and he stated that one was a cyst that he would do an aspiration biopsy and that one did not concern him, however the other one he was very concerned with, he stated that it had a black ring around it, what does this mean, The radiologist stated he would call my Dr. on Monday

Should I be scared.

Dear mrr, A black ring in and of itself doesn't give enough information as to what was seen.  Wait until you talk with your doctor, who will have spoken with the radiologist.  Your doctor should be able to tell you what was suspicious and what further evaluation would be needed such as a biopsy.  Another option for you would be to have your mammogram reviewed by a breast specialist for their opinion.
