Soreness under left arm-breast area

For the last approximately two weeks, I have had some soreness under my left arm, extending under my left breast.  I feel no lump under my breast or my under my arm.  There is a little numbness down my arm.  I worry about breast cancer or something with my lymph nodes extending under my arm.  Any suggestions?  If I were to go to the doctor, should I go to my general family physician or to my gyn?

Dear Michele R:  This could be anything, including a pulled muscle.  Since it has been there two weeks and has not gotten better, it may be worth seeing your doctor.  You general doctor may have a broader approach.  The gyn may be focused specifically on the breast.  Either is technically okay.

Thank you for your quick response.  I was thinking of a pulled muscle also.  It won't hurt to see a doctor.  Thanks again.
