Breast Cyst

Hi....I have a question....in Mid January I had a breast cyst aspirated on the areola and drained, after which I had to pack the cyst until it healed which was a total of 18 days, at which time, I would think the cyst would of healed....but unfortunately everytime the incision begins to close the cyst begins to fill back up and reopens the incision and both yellow fluid and blood comes out.  This has been occurring since I stopped packing it.  I was on antibotics twice so far and I just finished the recent medication a few days ago, and the incision reopened today with a lot of fluid and blood coming from it.



I am going to have this cyst removed in three weeks time, but I am worried about it until then.  My question is, do I have to worry about it or is this normal for cyst to do this?  And is it alright for an incision to keep opening from the pressure of the fluid inside.



Thank you for any information you can give me with this.

Dear Sally Z, No this isn't normal, however, it happens.  What they will try to do is to correct the problem surgically.  Fluid is going to build up in an area of least resistance, if it cannot flow through other channels it will build up and put enough pressure on the incision, which has not been able to heal over, to open.

It sounds like this was not a simple cyst; rather, it sounds like an abscess (an infection). In the breast, abscesses can be quite difficult to cure; drainage like you had is the first step, but more surgery (as you are having) is often required. Without knowing the details, it's not possible to be very specific; but what you describe sounds fairly typical for a breast abscess.

Three months ago a mass was detected in my mammogram. I went for an ultrasound, and the doctors said that it was a cyst. Just yesterday I went to have another lump inspected. I was told that it felt like a cyst, and that I have cyctic breast. I am currently taking Vitamin E daily, and decreasing my caffine intake. My question and concern is, "How do I know it is really a cyst?" I had a hysterectomy 9 years ago and have been on Premarin ever since. I questioned if I should remain on this medication, and was advised by my doctor that I needed it, and would be on it from now on. I have many concerns, but the most important is to know it is NOT breast cancer, and if it is cyst... what do I do to prevent them from returning? Will cyst lead to breast cancer???

I have been on estraderm patches for over 12 yrs and now have been told that I have fibercystic brest desease....I have to endure mammograms every 6 months and they show nothing but when the ultrasounds are done they find cysts.  Since the mammogram shows nothing why do if have to continue having them and not just the ultrasound?  I have had apserations done and one cyst removed.  If my brests are full of cysts would it be better to see if they could be removed and replaced, and if so would this stop me from having to have the mammograms in the future.  I have also lost family members to brest cancer so I endure these procedures on a twice yearly basis.  I also have cut down on my caffin intake and take vitiam e but I still have pains.  Any suggestions on what to do for them.  I also take lodine for my arthritis, they thought that it would also help with the brest pain but so far it hasn't.  Tks

very afraid my cyst will turn into cancer. my right breast throbs and burns and is very soar. just wondeing if anyone can help me fell better about waiting for results. thank you.
