Cyst vs Hematoma or....?

by Iamspirited, Jul 19, 2005 12:00AM
I have an appointment with a surgeon this afternoon to examine a lump that seemed to come up literally overnight beneath my right breast. Had an ultrasound yesterday and twisted the guy's arm about it. He said it might be a "hematoma" and asked if I'd been injured in some way recently. I have not been. And surely not there, underneath. It seems large...is definintely palpable. Anyone have this experience before? I am terrified.

Thanks,

spirit

Dear spirit:  There are many explanations for lumps.  Without the ability to do an examination and review ultrasound and/or mammogram results, it is impossible to speculate on what type of lump this might be.  You are doing the right thing by having it evaluated - any palpable lump should be evaluated.  Hopefully, your appointment this afternoon will shed more light on this for you.

Thank you for responding so quickly! His office just called to reschedule the appointment until tomorrow afternoon! Part of me is relieved and part of me knows that I have yet another day to stress over this!

May I ask another question? Would it be worthwhile to use moist heat on it? Are non-invasive options available?

Thanks again,

spirit

what did you find out from your surgeon? I have the same thing under my breast.  It feels like fatty tissue.
