Hi,
I am looking for some advice or an expert opinion. I was diag DCIS in 4/03 35 rads and tamoxifen for 5 years. I have taken it for 2 1/2 yrs have 2 1/2 years to go.
Since taking the tamoxifen my periods have been very heavy. I have had one D&C and polyp removal in 05/04, which helped with the heavy bleeding for a while. Now it has come back. Friday at my gyn she found four more polyps. I have to have another D&C and polyp removal.
She has suggested an endometrial ablation using the Novasure procedure. I have researched this all weekend and it sounds like a very good fix for the heavy bleeding. My only concern is that my gyn told me that it is harder to detect uterine cancer after having an EA.
Do you think that my risk for UC is elevated enough by the tamoxifen that I shouldn't have this procedure? My periods are so heavy that I am going to do something and my choices as I see them are, 1. EA 2. Stop taking the tamoxifen or 3. hysterectomy. Your opinion or advise is greatly appreciated.

Dear ceegee: This is a decision that should involve your oncologist as well as your gynecologist. As you point out, there are several options (and possibly others you haven't mentioned). Your doctors, those who know your complete situation will be best equipped to help you come to the best solution as it relates to you.

All the women there are either having an ablation in the near future or have already had one. They can give wonderful advice and let you know if your pain is normal or not.
If you reread this, can you tell me if you were on tamoxifen also? And if so for how long?
