| . | My mom was diagnosed with bc 7 years ago with bc at age 79. She went through radiation, surgery and was on tamoxifen for 5 years and now on Femara. She was recently diagnosed with a recurrence to mediastinal lymph nodes. What are her options at this point? Her doctor will probably change her to a differrent aromatase inhibitor. Is this considered stage 4 cancer? Thank you |

| annaevangelina | Dear annaevangelina: Breast cancer that has spread outside the area of the breast and regional lymph nodes is considered stage 4 disease. Treatment options will depend on the extent of disease, the general health of the patient, whether or not the disease is causing symptoms etc. There are many possible options but the best option for her will depend on these factors, the recommendation of the physician and her wishes.
