At what age to begin testing for brest cancer?

My daughter, who is now age thirty-nine, has had a mammogram every year since age twenty-four. She has a medical history indicating a low risk for brest cancer. She is moderately retarded and diagnosed with left temporal lobe epilepsy. I'm wondering how much radiation she has had over this period of time. She has also had several CT scans from the age of 7 looking for the cause of her seizures.

She has been living in a group home for 17 years. Last year, she had a biopsy because of a calcium deposit which requires several extra mammograms. The calcium deposit was benign. This year more calcium deposits have been found. I want to know if this biopsy proves benign would it be wise to request stopping mammograms  until she is at least fifty years old.

Dear catherine35, The actual radiation exposure your daughter receives with the mammograms is quite small.  The benefit of the possible detection of an early breast cancer by follow-up of the calcium deposits most likely outweighs the risk of the radiation exposure.
