another lymph node???

by Lori1972, Apr 04, 2002 12:00AM
last month my mother had surgery to have a lymph node removed and it was very tiny and cancerous. she had b cancer 3 years ago and did not require any treatment except removal. now they are suggesting radiation and tamoxiphen(sp?)she went to see the radiation doctor the other day and noticed a large lump under the scar line in her arm pit. she is having this removed Monday. Could this just be scar tissue?? I don't think it could grow this fast in just 1 month. you would think if it was cancer they would have caught it earlier. plus she was told the previous tumour took 3 years to become a lump. any suggestion????

Dear Lori, It could be part of the healing process or a fluid collection.  Lymph nodes are part of a system possibly it is a lymph node that has enlarged.  With her history, further evaluation of the lump is indicated, having it removed and examined will clarify what it actually is.

I just wanted to let you know that the surgeon saw my Mother yesterday after surgery and said the lump looked like a congenial blood clot. Thank God
