Partial UPJ Obstuction with Hydronephrosis

Hi-My daughter 9 1/2 year old suffering from left flank pain intermittently (once in a six month).Ist pain was in September 1997.with brownish urine.She has been refered to urologist in sultan qaboos university,where she has been examined for ultrasound ,Ivu,Mcu,Renogram.Dr advised for cystoscopy.She has been examined through cystoscopy that she has upj obstruction (left kidney) with Hydronephrosis in ultrasound.Her renal scan shows 33% left & 67% right kidnies functions.Other all reports normal. She has been advised for Paeyloplasty.I approached to Royal Hospital for the 2nd opinion.There she has been again examined through renal scan,& Mcu (Mega uretur non reflux)And

41%left &59% right kidney in the month of October 1997.She has been advised to repeat this renal scan after one year.Again renal scan repeated in the month of November 1998.Renogram shows 40% left &60% right Kidnies.She suffered twice with left flank pain.Again renal scan repeated in October 1999.Same result 40% left & 60% right kidnies in royal Hospital.Ultrasound repeated in october 1999.3.8cm left kidney.Dr advised for ultrasound in the month of January 2000.This is brief history of my daughter.

Could you please advise for the remedy if its possible.

Dear Sir -

    I am sorry your daughter has had such difficulty.  And I'm afraid that as a general Pediatrician, I am really not qualified to answer your questions.  I think I would encourage you to seek out the most qualified Pediatric Urologist you can find - and then put your faith in his or her recommendations.  I must say that I am concerned about your daughter's recurrent bouts of pain - and the potential for ongoing loss of kidney function.  Perhaps a surgical procedure could address both of these issues.
