preschool separation

by cjgOhio, Apr 20, 2001 12:00AM
What is the correct way to respond to a child who cries and clings when being dropped off at preschool/daycare? How long will this continue? Will it stop?

The best way to respond is by communicating your reassurance and pretty quickly leaving the child with the pre-school staff. If you linger it will only make the separation more difficult. Generally children display this response for only a short time, but there's no way to predict with any certainty.
