In a child with no co-morbid condition, another stimulant medication, such as Dexedrine or Cylert, may be useful. Adderall, a combination of the active ingredients in Ritlin and Dexedrine, might be a good alternative. Two popular longer-acting medications, Metadate and Concerta, both have the same basic stimulant, methylphenidate, as does Ritlin, though the absorption mechanism with Concerta is different.
