Jealous 3 1/2 year girl, old towards parents/ boyfriend

by rxglassmaker, Jun 11, 2007 12:00AM
My girl friends 3 1/2 year old daughter is extremly jealous, when I an mom hold hands, kiss, hug etc. Should the same behavior towards the dad when they were together.
Is this norm, if not what can we do?

To some extent it is normal; it depends on the degree. It also indicates some insecurity on her part, and that may be related to the climate in the family. Your note indicates that there has been some marital or relationship difficulties, and these may be prompting the girl's insecurity and jealousy. What are the examples of the girl's jealousy? How can you tell that she is jealous? What does she actually do when you and her mother hold hands, hug, etc.?
