male breast syndrome - curable without surgery?

by newguy001, Mar 30, 2007 12:00AM
i suffer from the male breast syndrome... the chest has grown abnormally and it looks very awkward for me to indulge in things like swimming etc.

i have decided to stop any fat intake and replaced one of my meals (dinner) with salad only.

i shall try this no-fatty-food approach for at least a month to see what happens... quite obviously, ice-creams, chocolates, or anything remotely junk has also been done-away with...

questions:
> is my approach right?
> can male breasts be 'treated' without surgery?
> my friend told me that if i exercise (chest exercises like push ups etc) it will only make the condition worse since it will 'grow' the muscles further. is it right?

What you describe sounds like typical gynecomastia (male breast enlargement).  If this is the case, then weight loss will reduce some fatty tissue, but I doubt if diet will solve the problem.  If you are bothered enough that you are uncomfortable exposing your chest or wearing just a T-shirt, then surgery is likely your only option.  Liposuction alone can work, but more often I do a combination of direct excision of breast tissue via a tiny incision around the nipple areola in combination with liposuction.
