Bad pain 3 weeks after root canal treatment

by ArcticMonkey, Jul 13, 2007 12:00AM
I had root canal treatment to one of my back teeth at the top left hand side 3 weeks ago, but i am getting really bad pain when i eat or drink things that are hot or cold, its a sharp hot throbbing pain, which eventually subsides, but never goes away. Could i have an infection?

I do not know if the rct is completed, but you should not be in this much discomfort and I would see the dentist that is doing this treatment.

when root calas are done properly the nerves in the teeth are removed so you should not have symptoms in that tooth. So, either the root canal wqas very poorly done, OR the symptoms are coming from a different tooth. I'd have it checked out by an endodontist (root canal specialist)
