Looking for a solution on Tooth Fillings

by snoopyb, Dec 03, 2006 12:00AM
I'm in my mid twenties and looking at getting some fillings redone for the thrid or fourth time, which is rather frustraing and expensive. I know most dentists would rather preserve the tooth via root canals or fillings, at what point does this become too much, or what other options are available beyond these that may or may not be as drastic?

I am sorry but I do not understand your question. It seems to me that the fillings are being replaced in too short a period of time. I do not know your eating habits or oral hygiene so I do not know if the teeth are redecaying at a faster rate than I would like to see. Are you on a fluoride rinse?

IF decay is present, or if fillings are leaky or broken, they need to be replaced, or crowns need to be made. YOu seem to be young to have had the same restorations removed and replaced so many times. silver fillings, for example, should last 5-10 years, sometimes longer (unless a fracture occurs or a nerve becomes affected.) white composite filling should last even longer. is the same dentist doing all of this work??? Either way, a second or third opinion cannot hurt. you are too young to have teeth extracted if they can be saved.
