Leukoplakia

Hello, My dentist said I have leukoplakia, it's located on the gums where my wisdom teeth were removed, I always thought it was scarring from that. I'm 29, is this likely to turn into cancer as I get older? Should I have an xray or anything done about it now? Thanks for your time, em

If it is leukoplakia then it should be monitored on a regular basis. I think you should consult an oral surgeon for a definitive diagnosis. A biopsy is probably in order but the oral surgeon will make that decision.

see an oral surgeon or periodontist for a definitive diagnosis. also if you smoke, drink or chew tobacco, quit. this lesion could develop into more serious problems if that is indeed what it is.
