white line on lip, don't think it is a scar

I first noticed a raised white line on my lower lip about a year ago. It starts on the inside and goes to the outside. Sometimes it hurts and gets raw feeling around it. I do not remember ever doing anything that cut my lip, especially bad enough to scar it. Is there any form of cancer that looks like a scar? It is a white line that is raised slightly. As far as I can really tell it has not gotten any bigger, but it worries me. My lower lip also almost constantly feels raw and tender. Would using too much lip balm cause this? I constantly use carmex or blistex because it always feels so raw.

i am also having a slightly raised thin white line just under my bottom lip inside my mouth. but i had something in the same spot on the outside of my bottom lip called dysplasia that they had to surgically remove (dysplasia has the possibility of developing into cancer if not treated). you cant notice the line is there until i pull my bottom lip down. it also seems like its darker in this area than the rest of my lip. i have a doctors appointment with an oral surgeon on the 6th, but i would like to know more about it so that im not so worried in the meantime. any information anyone could give me to help ease my mind in the meantime would be appreciated.
