vitrectomy, daibetic retinopathy

My dad has a case of proliferative diabetic retinopathy and the doctors think that if he has a vitrectomy that it will not help to much. If anybody could tell me anything i could do about this, or even any good doctors that might be able to help me that wuold be great. i live in las vegas nevada but am willing to travle anywhere to find the best dotor for my dad. also he has been taking this medicine that i ordered of the internet called nepretin, he has seen some improvement in his eyes since he has been taking it. i was wondering if anyone has heard of nepretin or any other medicine that can help. the nepretin seems to be helping but i would just like to know if anybody knows anything about it. also i have heard of prednisolone and prednisone which are corticosteroids that can help the eyes. if anyone could give me any information they might know about any of these above mentioned things it would be greatly appreciated, or any other information about diabetic retinopathy, vetrictomy or retina specialists it would be great because i am desperate for some kind of help.

A vitrectomy is a surgery where the excess blood vessels and scar tissues are removed from the eyes and some of the fluid in the eye is replaced with saline solution.
A way to find some information about the eye conditions is the NIH.gov (www.nih.gov) National Institute of Health, as i am unfamiliar with such drugs. The most common described treatment is keeping blood sugars as close to normal as possible. Bret
