Hello ayoe,

I am a volunteer adn not a medical professional so, your relative should always seek advice from his physician.  I am not too familiar with type 2 diabetes, as my son was diagnosed over 7 years ago with type 1.

I have heard of a med called metformin that is given to people with type 2.  I have also heard that sometimes people living with type 2 end up being put on insulin.

Your relative should keep a log of his blood sugars and make an appointment with his physician to discuss the next step.

I am sorry, but I am unfamiliar with those particular medicines, although I have heard of glucophage.
