| . | My daughter was just diagnosed at 7, with a severe astimatism (she said 6x the norm), and amblyopia with severe vision loss in that eye(nearsigted). the dr. prescribed glasses and said she will probably have to patch the good eye for several months. What is the success rate of getting correction at seven years old? Do you rec contact lens instead? Or not with the severe asigmatism? And do you recommend the use of atropine drops or the patch, being she is already seven? I want to do what will work best, however at seven wearing a patch will be very difficult for her. |

| . | You need to enforce wearing the patch as your Dr.prescribed, that will be extremely beneficial to your daughter, glasses may or may not help correct the astigmatism - she is still growing and has the possibility of growing out of some of it.Most importantly - wear the patch! They make cute little smiley faces and pictures that they can patch the eye with, if you think that will encourage her. Good luck! |
