My daughter, who is now 8 had her lens removed in one eye when she was 10 days old, wore a contact lens until she was 2 and then had an IOL implanted. She was patched half her waking time until she was 7 and 1/2 and wears varifocal glasses, her other eye is normal. Her eye has no other problems. Her sight is excellent as it is almost 20/20. Her consultant said that it is the best ever result on record for a child with her condition. Her pressure has always been okay, but has now risen to 26. She is being monitered and the optical nerve seems fine, she has been refered for further more advanced testing, including taking photographs of her eye.

well, a pressure of 26 is a little bit disconcerting. she's in no danger of immediate damage, so there's no reason to panic or make any hasty decisions. but if she's only 8, she probably cannot spend the next 75+ years with a pressure of 26. its going to have to be lower than that or eventually that optic nerve *is* probably going to start showing damage. either it will get lower on its own, or someone will have to make it lower with Rx eyedrops or surgical procedures.
prudent thing to do now is wait a few months or maybe even years and see what it does. if it doesnt go down on its own, you'll eventually have to do something to lower the pressure.
