Eye swelling and redness!

by TEEM, Apr 19, 2007 12:00AM
Hello,

I had posted a question on this forum a few months back about the redness and swelling in the eyes. It all started happening after my eyes were dialated when I went for eye exam last December.

The problem still persists, even though it went away for a couple of months, and reflaired a few weeks back. I have gotten ANA (auto-immune disorder test) for Sjourn Syndrome and it was negative. The eye specialist that I went to also adminstered the Schimers test for tears and it was 5. The bacterial and viral infection tests (swab of the eye) were also negative.

The main problem is that when I tilt my head down or lay on my sides, I feel the pain inside the eye and I can feel the eyes swelling and it also gets very red. My eyes are always red with thick red viens visible on the white portion of the eye. Right eye is more sever than the left one.

Even though I have sinus issues, and I have an MRI done, doctors don't feel that its due sinus. I have used Pred Forte, Patanol, etc. and now I am prescribed Restasis eye drops.

I have been to 3 eye specialist and 2 of them have no clue while the 3rd thinks its due to dry eyes. Could this be arthiritis of the eye? Can anyone suggest a better doctor/hospital for my diagnosis?

Thanks a lot!

Regards,

TM

I forgot to mention that I do not wear contacts. Could this multiple sclerosis?

It's not multiple sclerosis. If you've been examined many times, then it's most likely benign, or dry eye. As long as you've had exams and they didn't find anything wrong with you, you're fine. It doesn't sound neurological in origin at all. It's probably dry eye. But not MS.

agree with travelOD.  not MS.
