blurred distant vision

I have had blurred distant vision in one eye for the past month. My doctor referred me to an optometrist who performed many tests. The dye he introduced to my eyes suggested dry eye and he prescribed drops.  I have used them but I continue to have blurry vision at a distance.  I returned today and he performed more tests and said I had early cataracts but that should not be the cause.  There are signs of continued dryness and he said to continue with drops and return in 2 weeks.  He did rule out macular degeneration and glaucoma but I continue to worry.
