Ocular Migraines?

by Vertigo, Sep 14, 2005 12:00AM
I developed eye floaters about 4-5 months ago.  The past few months along with the floaters,  I have had problems (especially in my right eye) with 'cobwebs', sparks of light, what appears to look like a 'hair' in my eye, black spots with a ripple effect lasting a few minutes (like the ripple effect in water).

The floaters are in both eyes,  more so in the right eye.  I have had flashes of lights, halos and sparks in my left eye.  I recently went to my family doctor which stated that he was sure it was ocular migraines.  He referred me to an eye specialist. My eye doctor said everything looked fine, I have 20/20 vision.  He also commented that the gel in my eye is thicker then he has ever seen.  Even in his patients older than 60.  I am 39 years old.  A few times these episodes with my eyes have been followed by a severe headache which lasted anywhere from 20 minutes to an hour.  Does anyone else have problems similar to this?

i was diagnosed with the same thing a few years back-sure is a scary thing huh? i just knew there had to be something really major wrong. it was explanined to me that is a migrane without the severe pain so i would guess that the headaches are a part of it also-the eye dr & family dr both said that if they became frequent or painful they would prescribe traditonal migrane meds-so far that hasn't been necessary for me & they seem to be directly related to the stress level in my life-take care
