Pulsing spot in vision, anyone else experience this?

About 2 months ago I became aware that I could see a pulsing
spot in the lower right area of my right eye, especially in
bright light.  It pulses in rythm with my heartbeat.  I work
for an eye physician and he did a thorough dilated eye exam
and could see nothing wrong.  He checked my neck arteries also
and they are fine.  I have some high blood pressure, but recently
it has been pretty good. I am 58 years old.  This is very annoying and kind of scary. Anyone else ever have anything like
this?

I have been having similar problems for the past 5 weeks.  The problem is in my left eye.  I First noticed flashes in the right corner.  This is more noticable when in dark surroundings and when looking quickly from right to left.  The flashes are silver/bright and formed as a half circle like the tip of a fingernail or a sliver-moon.  It is a quick flash but will flash several times in a row.  My vision also seems blurred as if looking throug dirty glasses.  This smudginess is constant.  I do not have trouble reading but the smudginess is very annoying.  I have also noticed a pulsing in that eye which seems to be more evident when looking slightly down and not focusing on anything in particular.  I first noticed the pusling when doing an exercise routine.  I have gone to a retinal specialist because I feared a retinal detachment.  The exam showed noting and I was told the problem is most likely optical migraines.  I have experienced optical migrains which are quite different than what I am experiencing now.  The color and brightness of the flashes are similar, but that is the only similarity.  My optical migrains are experience in both eyes at the same time and last approximately 20 minutes.  That flashing is a larger area starting in the center and opening up like a donut until it opens large enough to be out of vision.  The optical migraines also are apparent whether the eyes are open or closed.  The new flashes I am experiencing are only noticable in one eye.  They are not visible when the eye is closed and they last for a few brief seconds at a time.  I do not wish to go from doctor to doctor only to be told there doesn't seem to be anything wrong.  Any helpful experiences from anyone would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the responses to my question, every bit of information
helps, also helps to know others have experienced the same or
similiar conditons.  My problem has not gotten better or worse,
am looking now at elevated blood pressure contributing to the
cause of this.  Will let you know how it goes!

I am very relieved to read that others have experienced this type of eye pain. Lately I have been noticing a pulsing in the corner of my right eye, flashes of light, as well as a cloudy spot in the middle of my eye ( is suppose this is what's making the flashes ). What scared me is last night when I noticed while watching TV that my vision in my right eye was blurred as well. I have been very sleep deprived, so I'm going to try to see if getting a better sleep pattern helps. How important do you all think it is to go to a doctor about it? I've wondered could this be an anurysm (sp?) waiting to happen? It's a scary thing

I have a similar spot in the center of my vision that is a grey changing, transparent spot that comes and goes for days/weeks at a time. It doesn't seem to coordinate with my pulse and I have had 2 mri's in the past and an MS workup which have led to no answers. I am waiting to hear back from ag-i-doc about aneurysm behind the eye that an opth would not be able to see (thread below called dark flashes and pain in right eye).  It all began 3 years ago after the birth of my first daughter. I am 32yo and trying to get an appointment with a neuro-opth as I am very concerned.  Past doctors comments have included possible early MS, Occular Migraines and 'we just don't know'.  I would try to get an MRI to rule out something serious. I notice my spot when I am tired and stressed out.  Hope you get some answers, God Bless.
