Eye Care

by Lois M. Hennigh, Dec 11, 2005 12:00AM
I have macular degeneration and also a cataract in my one eye.  The  The surgeon said that because of the Macular degeneration that the surgery for the cataract would not improve my vision.  I am to see a Retina Specialist and was wondering what direction we are going with this information.

if the macular bdegeneration is pronounced enough, your surgeon is right, removing the cataract would not likely improve your vision.

you can think of your macula as your eye "engine" and your cataract as "tires".  it wont help your vehicle run any better to replace the tires if the engine is shot.
