She has not had the surgery for a multitude of reasons  but I am curious to know what she can see, as she still only uses over the counter reading glasses  for use with small print. thanks,I appreciate any feddback about this as i am confused .

a macular hole causes one to have pretty terrible acuity.  reading small things at any distance with any glasses will most likely be pretty much impossible.  peripheral vision will not be affected.

if she's reading ANYTHING with her over-the-counter reading glasses, she's only using her right eye.  she is most likely not using her left eye at all.  try it: have her try to read something while covering her right eye.  she most likely will not be able to do it.
