FSH ubnormal

by eid alajmi, Oct 31, 2004 12:00AM
I'm male, 30 years old, I do Hormones tests and found every thing is OK except Follicle Stimulating Hormone (FSH) which show 17.65 mIU/mL.

my questions:

Is there any treatment can be taking to reduce FSH to normal

what is the possibility to have children in the future

what kind of specialist can help me in this problem is he the endocrinologist or infertility

An endocrinologist would be the appropriate referral for this problem.

A high FSH level may suggest ovarian failure.  The fact that you are only 30 years old requires further evaluation.  The frequency of your periods should also be noted, along with the abnormal lab tests.

Blood tests for estradiol, prolactin, and thyroid tests should also be done to see if there are any other endocrinologic abnormalities present.

These options should be discussed with your personal physician or referred to an endocrinologist.

Followup with your personal physician is essential.

Briam,

male also with similar problem. Inhibin and activin are two hormones that control the FSH. also follistatin blocks the FSH receptors (it stops activin and activin increases FSH).

other ways to deal with high FSH are acupuncture, special diet (lots of veggies, no red meat…-in other words tasteless food), and exercise.

also it is very good if you can ask a specialist. hormone therapy is very risky and often there are adverse effects, even with small doses.

I don’t know of any medication to lower the fsh.

if you find anything that might help please post it as I am also interested in methods for lowering fsh, both for women and man
