Endometrial Cells on Pap

I recently had a pap smear and my nurse practitioner informed me that endometrial cells were found on my pap smear. They were benign in appearance and I had just recently had my period (the pap was done on day eight of my cycle). I am 43 years of age with no history of irregular bleeding. What follow up would you recommend for this?

Endometrial cells on the PAP may be suggestive of endometrial hyperplasia or (rarely) cancer.
However, current recommendations suggest endometrial cells found in women over age 40 to have an endometrial biopsy to rule out these disorders.
This can be discussed with your gynecologist.
Followup with your personal physician is essential.
