.Hi,
I had an ectopic pregnancy after my fist IVF (we transfered 2 blastocyst embryo on day 5).
After I was diagnosed with ectopic I had a first shot of Meth but my levels went from 4000 to almost 10.000.
After my second shot (March 6th)the numbers began to lower but I'm now almost 3 month later and my levels are at 48.8 (one week ago were 50).
Why is this happening? How long this process can take? Can I do something to improve?
How low they have to be to start a new IVF cycle?
Thank you for your answers,

miky72Occasionally it can take a long time for your levels to drop to zero. Also, sometimes the levels can be falsely positive due to interfering substances in the assay (the test used to measure the HCG levels). Although this is uncommon, the way to check is to do a urine pregnancy test - if that is negative you may have interfering substances, of positive you trully still have pregnancy tissue somewhere. One question that is important regarding when to start again is whether or not you have resumed normal periods yet. Finally, there is a small possibility of a chronic ectopic pregnancy that your doctor should consider. This is a difficult question to answer in an e-mail, and you should follow up with your doctor closely.

.Hi Miky, First of all sorry about your loss. I had an ectopic also, so the only advice I can give you is that for some women it takes quite a bit of time for their body to absorb the fetal tissue in the tubeafter methotrexate. Make sure you are staying away from foods high in folic acid, that includes supplements, taking folic acid will just make it harder for your body absorb the ectopic. I hope I could be of some help.
