Can Bacterial Vaginosis be the cause of my infertility

by wishingonastar, Mar 14, 2007 12:00AM
I have been trying to conceive since I had my miscarriage in 8/05. But ever since then I have been diagnosed with BV. I havent been able to completely get rid of it. It just keeps coming back month after month. Does anyone experience this? Can this be the cause for my infertility?

Not a known cause of infertility. Has your ObGyn done any infertility evaluation on you and your partner? After nearly two years of trying, I would recommend an evaluation, either by your ObGyn or by a Reproductive Endocrinologist. This would include assessment of whether or not your fallopian tube are open, a semenanalysis, and whether or not you are ovulating. Good luck!

Hi I have had bv many times over the years too and cannot conceive because my tubes are now blocked, I had to two perfect children when I was younger im 36 now.  however I am just embarking on ivf.  It may be worth getting checked out if you havent already as I was totally unaware my tubes were blocked until i was trying to conceive unsuccessfully for 3 years. I dont know if bv can cause that or whether infact it was having a iud for years but its certainly not a nice thing either way, I constantly wanted to take a shower.
Anyway good luck
