Clomid....Round 3 !!!

by praying hard, Nov 14, 2006 12:00AM
Well I'm about to start my third round of Clomid...ugh!!!!  I hate those stupid little pills!!  Just wondering how many more months my doc wants to try Clomid before moving on to something else.  How many months have all of you been on Clomid and how long does your doc keep you on it before trying something new??  I'm ready to move on to something a little more proactive, even if it does increase the chances of multiple births.  Guess I'll try Clomid one more month and see what happens!!

I have read on this forum ladies who have been on it for 3 cycles and more - the longest was 6 cycles.

I just finished my second cycle - and i am sure i will do my third as we could have missed this time round - bded on the 16th day.

I am currently on my 8th round.  The first two were 150mg with iui, the next four were 50mg (for suspectid Luteal phase defect) and timed intercourse, the seventh dose was 100mg for clomid challenge test and timed intercourse, and I am currently on 100mg and am supposed to do IUI but due to my being away and the doctors office being closed next weekend I my just have to do the timed intercourse.  I am just trying to do my 3 IUI's (per my insurance) so that I can move on to IVF.  I have been pg two times while on clomid, but lost one to miscarrage and the other to a tubal, where I had to have my left tube removed.  I have had four m/c total after ttc (after ds was born).  I just wanted to share my experiance, and wish you the best of luck!

I too am on my third round.  My doctor told me we would try this for 6 months.  Then we would talk about my other options.  Don't give up - it'll happen!

by jen_KE, Nov 15, 2006 12:00AM
I did 3 rounds so far with 50 mg.  I'm actually thinking about stopping Clomid altogether because it has really caused me more harm than good, and I do ovulate on my own anyway.

by jen_KE, Nov 15, 2006 12:00AM
Oh also, what exactly is "timed intercourse"???

Have any of you ever heard of Natural progesterone cream?  A lot of women are estrogen dominant and do not have enough progesterone in there bodies to get pregnant. Adequate amounts of progesterone is crucial to a woman who is trying to become pregnant.  It actually prepares the uterine wall for implantation of the fertilized egg.   Have the docs tested your hormones?  Doctors have a synthetic progestin that they give but the problem is that a lot of the time our bodies do not except it because it is synthetic.  Anyway, we have a friend who had tried everything and got on progesterone and now has a baby who is 3 months old.  I'm not sure if you would get the same results, but if you have tried everything the doctor has given maybe you would be willing to try this.  I have lots of articles I could email you, lots of ideas for books, and you could do some research and let me know what you think.

I would be interested in hearing more about progesterone.  The dr. normally checks mine after I O and he says it's ok, though, do you think it could still benefit me??

Passionate about prevention I have a question for you. I have also read about natural progsterone I actually bought myself and my mom a bottle however I do not know how to use it effectively for TTC so I stop using it. Do you know how your friend used it in order to conceive?

hello- timed intercourse is using ovulation predictor kits, and having sex during your LH surge.  It's worked for me (except I miscarried) and in three months I got pg twice.  If you have any more questions please feel free to ask.  good luck!

I actually have a container of progesterone cream, but I never use it- it probably wouldn't hurt.  I have had 4 m/c since starting ttc #2, and in my last three m/c I have had an ovarian cyst rupture, and within days of that happening my HCG numbers dropped dramatically.  I have been wondering for some time now if hormones might be a part of my problem- but my OB and RE don't believe in checking progesterone levels- so I still have no idea if it might be my problem.  After my 3rd m/c in a year (had one almost 2 years ago)with having a cyst rupture my RE finally agreed to put me on progesterone, but not until I actually find out that I am pregnant.  Someone posted above wanting to know how your friend used her cream, and I would also be interested to know this.  I think I may start using the progesterone cream I have until I get that bfp and then switch to the perscription.

I would be interested in any articals or further information you have on this subject, as I get no help from my doctors.  Thank you!

Yes i too want to know how to use and where to buy progesterone cream

by Passionate about Prevention, Nov 20, 2006 12:00AM
If you want some more info a really good person to contact is my Mom, her name is Melanie.  She taught classes for two years on progesterone cream and its benefits.  She is very knowledgeable.  If you want some resources just email her.  She has a whole page of places you can research.  Her email is ***@****.  Ask her as many questions as you want, progesterone has changed her life dramatically and she would love to help change others.  If you want you can also email me ***@****.  (p.s. i would post all the info I have but it would take up an entire page or more.) Post if you have anymore questions.

I forgot to add that the place where we get our progesterone cream is Arbonne International.  It is a swiss company.  There are a lot of other good ones out there, the thing that was important to us was the way it is packaged.  It needs to be air tight.  If it is exposed to the air it will slowly lose it potency. www.arbonne.com

Mikeal'smom you got pregnant and then did you get off of the cream?  If you are on progesterone you have to continue to use it even if you get pregnant.  If you quit you body's hormone will fluctuate and miscarry.

The girl i talked about who got pregnant and just had her baby.  She got on the cream and got pregnant, her doc told her to get off of it and to get on the oral pills(the prob with oral pill is that they have to go through your liver).  She called my Mom and asked what she would do.  My Mom told her that she needed to follow her own body's intuition.  The next day she called and said that her and her husband both felt like they needed to be on it.  So against her doc advice, because all the other times she had been pregnant before she had taken the pill, she stayed on and is so grateful now.  I truly believe that this cream can help.  Sometimes it just a matter of researching and then deciding if it is right for you.
