HAVEN'T HEARD FROM MY DOCTOR YET "BUT" ONE OF MY BEST FRIEND'S HUSBAND WORKS IN RADIOLOGY WHERE I HAD THE HIDA SCAN DONE...SSSH DON'T TELL ANYONE (HE HE)

I AM IN SHOCK...52%...NORMAL.  IT SAID SOMETHING ABOUT PART OF MY LIVER BEING ENLARGED...DON'T DRINK VERY MUCH...OTHERWISE NORMAL SCAN

WONDER WHAT TO DO NOW?  THOUGHT FOR SURE IT WAS MY GALLBLADDER...URQ PAIN AND SHOULDER PAIN (OUCH) LASTING FOR SEVERAL DAYS...NAUSEA...NO STONES OF ANY KIND...AND LETS NOT FORGET THE NAUSEA WITH THE INJECTION.

THE BAD ATTACKS ARE OVER BUT OCCASIONALLY I GET THE SUDDEN PAIN IN THE URQ...THEN IT'S GONE

LOL!  Yes, seeing a gastro doc would be a really good idea!  Believe me, I understand why so many people try do diagnose themselves on the internet.  When you can't find answers from a doctor, you're forced into trying to find them yourself, but ultimately, we still have to see the right docs.

I got curious about your mention of the Addiction forum and checked it out.  Frankly, it seems like there are a few people over there who have formed a little clique and newbies better beware intruding on their club.  I saw absolutely nothing wrong with any of your posts, and it was perfectly obvious that you were really trying to understand the mindset of the addict and not trolling the board to cause any trouble.  I have seen this kind of misunderstanding happen so many times on internet message boards, particularly medical boards, and it is so sad.  Looks like they even ran off DPilot who had some invaluable insight.  Anyway, I wouldn't let it bother you - it's time to focus on yourself now anyway.  :-)

Hey thanks...was wondering where you were.
Been on the computer trying to do a little more research...I swear I should have been a doctor (he he)...I started out drawing blood at a hospital...trained to be a bacteriology technician...and then married a physician.  Yep, I'm one of those people that has a little too much and not quite enough knowledge in the medical field...oooops...forgot to say I divorced him...lol
Anyway, I haven't had any "bad" urq attacks until about 20 minutes ago which is why I decided to see if you had written.  I have decided to find a good gastro. and really get worked up.  Something is definitely wrong and I want answers.  I want to take a "pain pill", but after I started WWIII on the addiction site this morning, I'm afraid to...no I am not an addict...my sons (3) are...but that's another story.
BOY CAN I RAMBLE OR WHAT?
OK...I'll try to finish up here.  YOU MAY FIND SOME HUMOR IN THIS!  Although I was positive it was my gallbladder the test came back with "NO WAY" but my liver was enlarged.  That just gave me something else to research.  One thing I never told you is that I have unexplained mouth ulcers...going on two years now.  Oral surgeon biopsied one and it came back indicative of pemphigus...well that threw me for a loop!  Went to Dermatology specialist at Emory in Atlanta and he did another biopsy...came back neg. for pemphigus...whew, that was a relief.
Will have to start another post...hold on please...don't go away

Hey again!  I just read a woman's story on another message board that you might be interested in.  She said it took 5 years and 3 hida scans to finally prove it was her gallbladder causing her symptoms.  I guess the moral of the story is: Don't give up!

Over the years, I've had to take breaks from pursuing answers to my health problems.  One disappointment after another, never any answers... it can really drive you nuts.  But eventually, I'd climb back on that horse and keep trying and finally get somewhere.  I just hope and pray it won't take you 5 years!  :-)

I swear I'll try to wrap it up...hard to do when so much has been going on.
The doc. at Emory told me he thought the mouth ulcers were gastro related...and set me up for a celiac panel...hate to admit it BUT I haven't had all the tests done yet.
So back to my research today...I typed in RUQ pain, right shoulder pain, distended abdomen, enlarged liver, and mouth ulcers, just to see if anything would come up.  It went to Hepatitus sites...and I do have a tattoo...or maybe two.  So now I'm just freaked!
Guess I need to stop diagnosing myself and go to a gastro.

Hi Lizzie!  I had an ejection fraction within normal limits as well, but it still ended up being my gallbladder.  Unfortunately, I had to seriously argue (from a hospital bed!) with my GI doc to get a surgical consult before discharge.  Luckily, the surgeon agreed to take a peek with the laparascope and I was vindicated.  Many docs disagree with the approach of exploratory surgery when test results don't give with what they've been taught.  From their point of view, they would be cutting open a "healthy" body and "doing harm."  Again, it just depends on the doctor.

Try not to jump to conclusions based on what the radiologist told you - this is exactly why they are not supposed to release test results directly to the patient.  Sure, it may end up not being your gb, but if something was noted about your liver, maybe that's a different direct to look to?  Also, you could have sludge built up in the bile duct or Sphincter of Oddi dysfunction that can cause your symptoms, and an MRCP or ERCP would be used to diagnose those problems.

Having an ejection fraction within normal limits doesn't mean you give up!  It's just one more piece of the puzzle.  At least you're doing your research so you can ask further questions of your doc when you see him.

One other quick note before I forget: since this problem has been going on for a while, and may continue for even longer, you may want to obtain copies of all test results for your own records.  It comes in very handy since many docs don't keep those things beyond a couple of years, and if you ever consult with another one, you won't have to do them all over again.

Hang in there Lizzie!  It ain't over yet!  :-)
