This forum is limited to prevention of HIV and to safe sex in general. If you believe you might have been exposed to HIV and want help to judge your risk, would like advice about HIV testing, or have questions about the effectiveness of condoms or the risks associated with specific sexual practices, this is the site for you.

IMPORTANT

No questions will be accepted on the treatment of HIV/AIDS or its complications, viral load, and similar topics. If you have questions about a specific STD other than HIV/AIDS, please visit the STD Forum. Questions that do not pertain to the above topics will be removed from the forum.

If you have not done so, please review other threads in our archives for questions similar to yours and Dr. Handsfield's replies. Questions that duplicate other frequent ones, for which abundant replies exist, and that have little educational value for other forum users, will be DELETED WITHOUT RESPONSE. YOUR PAYMENT WILL NOT BE REFUNDED. The most common examples of such questions are those about low risk exposures to HIV, such as oral sex, condom- protected intercourse hand-to-genital exposure, and nonsexual contact with possibly infected blood or body fluids as well as symptoms of early HIV infection.

I am freaking out right now.  About a month ago, a week before my finals, I decided to go to a massage parlor for so stress mangement.  It turned out to be a sex parlor.  In the heat of the moment I took up the offer.  We had protected oral and vaginal sex, with the same condom.  After that since I was really nervous I did not ejaculate.  So she decided to give me a hand job.  A really hard hand job for about 10 mins.  Once it was over I notice that the condom broke.  And my penis was wet with her vaginal fluid.  I asked when the condom broke and she said right after she started the handjb.  I kinda believe her because she rubbed me raw.  I asked her to stop a couple of times during the had job, but she did not listen to me.  I think it was her pride.  2 week later I got a sore throat and a cough.

I have a sore neck a week after exposure and it is still sore.  And 3 weeks later I got a small pimple on the shaft of my penis.  I ;am so freaked out, that I missed 2 of my finals.

You are overreacting.  Sounds like you caught a cold about 2 weeks after the sexual event.  Conceivably a "small pimple" on the penis could be herpes, but if so, it sounds more like a recurrent outbreak and not something you caught from the event you describe.  But see a health care provider if it persists or recurs, or if you remain concerned about your other symptoms.

Assuming you didn't actually flunk out and still are eligible for care at the student health clinic, go there.  Most university student health services these days are highly expert about STDs, manage their patients very confidentially, and--trust me on this--they have heard it all.  Nobody will bat an eye about your story, which is pretty tame compared to others they have heard.

Good luck--  HHH, MD

A strong emotional reaction to a potential exposure is something I went through as well big time and it is perfectly understandable. I would recommend talking to someone about it early on before it gets out of hand. My job suffered a lot with my anxiety (note I also felt physicially sick though the whole time) and I made some rash decisions which I will probably regret for the rest of my life. Try to calm your nerves and don't let your very troubling thoughts get the best of you and hurt you in the long run. Best wishes to you.

I was just wondering is there any other STD to look out for?  And Am I safe from HIV?

Enough vaginal fluid would have to get down into your urethra then be absorbed into your bloodstream. Vaginal fluid contains little virus in comparison to blood or semen. I doubt anyone ever got HIV from the handjob type situation you experienced.

I have a question which is related to this event. Does oil increase the risk or decrease it. I had a similar but completly different episode and was concerned that some tiny amount of vaginal fluid was forced into my penis thru mutual masturbation using a ton of baby oil as the way it made it in. I have read abd rew-read many articles and have never seen any facts on this
