I NEED SOME GOOD ANSWERS DOC!
Answered by
University of Washington Seattle - WA
This forum is limited to prevention of HIV and to safe sex in general. If you believe you might have been exposed to HIV and want help to judge your risk, would like advice about HIV testing, or have questions about the effectiveness of condoms or the risks associated with specific sexual practices, this is the site for you.

IMPORTANT

No questions will be accepted on the treatment of HIV/AIDS or its complications, viral load, and similar topics. If you have questions about a specific STD other than HIV/AIDS, please visit the STD Forum. Questions that do not pertain to the above topics will be removed from the forum.

If you have not done so, please review other threads in our archives for questions similar to yours and Dr. Handsfield's replies. Questions that duplicate other frequent ones, for which abundant replies exist, and that have little educational value for other forum users, will be DELETED WITHOUT RESPONSE. YOUR PAYMENT WILL NOT BE REFUNDED. The most common examples of such questions are those about low risk exposures to HIV, such as oral sex, condom- protected intercourse hand-to-genital exposure, and nonsexual contact with possibly infected blood or body fluids as well as symptoms of early HIV infection.

I NEED SOME GOOD ANSWERS DOC!

i had a possible exposure 3 months ago and think that when the sex worker gave me oral with a condom he infected me on purpose by putting something in the condom or tampering with it. when i gave him oral he did have a condom on and i only did it for 5 seconds and got scared. can the virus live outside the body to allow someone to do this? i got some white cicles on my tongue a month after the ordeal and they havent gone since. dentist and docs say geographic tongue but i read it could be a hiv mouth virus called erythemotous because i do get red spots on the inner cheeks sometimes but only right on the bite line no where else.i have had sore armpits on and off and a few night sweats but everyone says my stress and anxiety is way over board and im making myself sick> well i did all the hep tests at the 9week and 4 day mark all came back neg. was that to soon doc? i also had a hiv test done and heres where im really scared.....the test came back elisa reactive, pcr neg,p24 neg,and the wbt neg! i spoke to some aids workers who have said if the elisa was set off hiv then forsure the wbt would have had some kind of reaction. is this true doc? i know im not past the 12 week mark but do you think the 9andhalf week was good enough? anyways doc last question for ya if my tongue was a result of hiv infection that early being the first month then wouldnt my body have started making hiv antibodies by now? well im going to keep my fingers crossed even though everyone says im fine and do you think i should retest? i cant find the sex worker anywhere and if he was hiv pos i will never know! thankyou for this great forum and very sorry for this long letter but ive benn waiting weeks to write to you but its always full! because its so so long ill make another donation to you guys and also one more thing doc i saw that if someone had a blood transfusion in the past it could set the elisa off and i had one almost 21 years ago! bye for now!!!!

The chance a sex worker tried to infect you intentionally with HIV is ludicrous and paranoid.  Anyway, your symptoms don't suggest HIV; and your negative 9 week test result proves you aren't infected.

doc i thankyou for your quick comments. i know it sounds crazy but i was there doc and really think he did. please doc could you answer some of the questions because im really scared and even more with the elisa coming back reactive! all pros i have spoke to say that 100% if the elisa found hiv then the wbt would have picked it up or had a reaction as well! doc all i need is a few answers! thanks doc!

I answered your questions as best I can.  Symptoms mean nothing compared to test results.  I missed the "reactive" result on your screening ELISA test.  If that's true, it was a false positive result; the Western blot tells the truth.  Modern tests always are positive in infected people within 9 weeks - but follow your own provider's advice about any further testing.  That's also the person to answer any more detailed questions.

thankyou verymuch doc so if i understand you 100% your saying that it was a false pos so the wbt would have picked up hiv if it was in me? also doc you said with todays testing the 9 week would have picked it up you think and since the wbt is neg along with the other ones that i should be clear? thankyou doc i just didnt really understand how you put it about all modern tests showing positive! thanks

I hate it when I have to repeat my answer in response to "Did you really mean it, Doc?"

IS a negative PCR DNA test w/elisa testing 16 Days and 50 Days after the incident considered conclusive?

Generally yes.  Search the forum for "time to positive HIV test".  Stop repeatedly posting your own question on other peoples' threads.

I deleted your badly inappropriate comment.  Any more like it and you will be blocked from further posting at all.

"...if the elisa picked up hiv then wouldnt the wbt have some kind of reaction to it?"   That's what a positive test is:  positive ELISA with a "reaction" by Western blot.  Your negative western blot proves your ELISA is meaningless.  What is it that you don't get?
