Me Again, AIH-Non Liver Problems

by Dianne, Jul 19, 2000 12:00AM
Greetings!  It has been awhile since my last post and I am doing well and my labs are fairly stable.  My question is a bit different this time.  I mentioned to my new gastroenterologist that I am more bothered by the other things associated with an autoimmune disorder-- the sharp pains in my fingers and toes, the times I find it difficult to walk.  Normally I do not mention these things to a Gastroenterologist because the response has been so negative (well, you lab results are good, it's stress, etc.) and the comments have left me with the feeling that what happens throughout the rest of my body is not relative.  Yet, in terms of daily life, it is most relevent to me.  My question is, in spite of what I read in the literature, the many references to systematic type problems, I have run across varied medical responses to such problems.  I know that I am treading outside your area, but you must have to address these issues with your patients.  How do you explain these associated autoimmune problems and how does a patient address such concerns with a doctor?  I enjoy your responses and learn a lot from them.  I appreciate your willingness to address this forum.  I encourage other posters to support this forum financially if they are at all able. Y'all provide a great service!   Dianne
