GIPA - Fasting required for Certain Blood tests

by ScrapR, May 22, 2002 12:00AM
Just had a quick question on fasting for blood tests.  I can't seem to find any indication that fasting is required for the thyroid tests (TSH, T4, and T3).  I thought that for the hepatic function panel that it was 12 hours fasting required???  But I think he may have done this before w/o fasting.  And for the new one for viral load (heptimax) I don't see any indication that fasting is required but can't find anything that says it isn't. And of course we don't want to blow this one. If you have answers to these I would appreciate it.  My husb. may have to work on Saturday and I had already scheduled his blood tests 6 weeks ago (you can never get a Saturday appt) and wondered if he could do it in evening hours without fasting.  Thanks in advance.  Cris
