Pegylated Interferon post transplantation

My husband had a liver transplant in Jan 2001 and has just started pegylated interferon treatment. As it's a new trial for post transplant patients in the UK, does anyone have any experience on what we might expect in terms of results? Apparently a small number might clear hep c but they hope to either reduce or halt any scarring. I have to say that for someone who is immuno-suppressed, I cannot believe how well he is coping despite a low white cell count of 1.1 (neutrophils).
His biopsy at 18 months post transplant showed scarring of score 1 which is good it seems. If anyone does have any knowledge of this treatment please let me know - I'm not really sure whether this is the correct site for post transplant patients or not but I would really appreciate any feedback.
