> ALT / AST LEVELS <

by shebee, Feb 20, 2003 12:00AM
Hi everyone.  Today we saw hubby's Dr.  At 12 week test, he tested non-detectable.  (test was <600IU...we are waiting for the better test)

(2b Cirrohsis stage 4, grade 2)

BEFORE tx AST was 197, ALT 104

_______________________________

He started on Peg/Intron...and

One month later, AST was 92, ALT 49

He switched to Pegasy on week 9...

AST 109, ALT 46

next month  AST 133, ALT 53

Next month  AST 191, ALT 84

The dr. said that he was concerned that damage is still happening because his ast & alt levels are not normal OR that the levels could be caused by the cirrohsis. ?????

1.Does the Peg ever cause ast & alt levels to rise?

2.  Do everyone else's ast & alt levels (while on tx) go up & down?  ...or do they drop to normal immediately?

Thanks,

Shebee

P.S.  The sun is shining and it is wonderful outside.
