Anyone prescribed tagamet (cimetidine) along with regular tx?

by adavisirl, Apr 01, 2003 12:00AM
Hi Folks,

My liver specialist has prescribed Tagamet (cimetidine) twice/day along with my peg-intron and ribavirin. He says there is some research that shows that it may improve the probability of success.

Tagamet is a heartburn and acid indigestion medicine.

I'm type 1a, so I need all the help I can get, but I have not found any research describing the use of Tagamet for Hep C treatment. Has anybody else heard of this? I'm a little leery of popping tagamet pills every day for 48 weeks...

BTW, he also has me on amantadine, another antiviral pill, and I have found some research indicating that this may indeed boost the probability of successful outcome, when used along with the peg and the ribavirin.

Cheers, and best of luck to all of you,
