~~ GI.PA ...§ everyone 'Rising Alt § Ast post Tx ' ~~

by shebee, Jul 10, 2003 12:00AM
Hi Erin...Thanks for taking time to answer my question.

First background:

Hubby was diagnosed:

HepC 2b

cirrhosis.4 - 2

He did tx for 6 months was clear at 12 weeks & 20weeks > 5IU/copies (heptimax)

He is going in for another test this week.

He has been off tx for 2+ months now and is looking great and feeling great, too.

His blood work is in range with the exception of this platelets.

During tx, they stayed around 37.  They are now at 54.

However, his AST & ALT started to rise toward the end of tx.

In Feb    AST was 191, ALT was 84.

In March  AST was 187, ALT was 72.

Now, July AST is  268, ALT is 126.

1.  Does rising ast & alt levels mean that the HEP C is back?

He also has been working 7 days a week, 16 hours a day.

2.  Could this be affecting the levels?

3.  Do these these test indicate that he is still having significant liver damage?

Thanks again,

Shebee
